FEN Internal Quality Assurance Board (IQA)

The IQA Board is a sub-board of the FEN Board. Internal quality assurance has critical importance in providing quality assurance for the assessments and accreditation of the qualifications undertaken. Its functions directly influence the performance of delivery and assessment teams, learner’s progress, learners and employers views on training, centres policy and the reputation of the qualification (Greer I. 2019. 7th ed. The board supports assessors working in clinical practice by providing:

  • Our Assessor Programme – all available now on recorded webinars – the curriculum for which has been developed to deliver the against Level 3 CAVA (Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement).  To be an assessor you will also need to have proficiency or expertise in Emergency Nursing. 
  • Library of Recorded Webinars that provide detailed information on how to assess others including how to mark written work in portfolios and how to gain a consistent approach between learners.
  • Monthly Webinar – third Thursday of the month starting at  19:00. This allows assessors to meet, discuss our assessment proformas available on our website, support assessors through any claims, concerns or issues they may have, provide networking opportunities.
  • Assessors with an Assessor Hub, led by an Internal Quality Assurer. this provide support for individual assessors, links assessors so that they share assessments of case reviews and provide a support network.
