Portfolio & Assessment Proformas & Book Recommendations
Emergency Nurse Education and Study Time Standards
At FEN, we recognise the vital role that education plays in professional development. To ensure Emergency Nurses are equipped to provide safe and effective care, we have collaborated closely with our Emergency Nursing and Emergency Medicine colleagues from NHS Trusts, Health Boards, and professional organisations to develop comprehensive standards and recommendations. Together, we advocate for dedicated, ring-fenced education time, clearly defined role-specific pathways, and equitable access to Clinical Nurse Educators. Our goal is to support and retain Emergency Nurses, enabling them to thrive in their roles.
This page provides some tools that can be used to demonstrate competence within your own portfolio. All the tools have been scrutinised by the Education Board and Competency Board Members and then ratified by the FEN Board; with most being reviewed and agreed by our Regulated Qualification Awarding Body.
We are aiming to build a repository of portfolio tools as we believe that this will standardise practice and assessment across Ireland, the UK and further afield. We welcome the opportunity to consider tools that are available in practice, so please forward to president@Fen.UK.Com.
If you or your employer has purchased an Education Bundle for you – You can upload these completed portfolio tools and any other evidence of learning to your CPDme e-portfolio.
