I worked as a Practice Development Nurse in Emergency Care for more than 20 years and have used the Faculty of Emergency Nursing (FEN) framework to develop nursing staff throughout that time, having been introduced to it by my then manager shortly after the founding of the Faculty. I hold a Masters in Education (Training and Development) and lead the design and delivery of the FEN educational programmes. My task is to ensure that the content of our programmes reflects what is needed to enable members to learn the theoretical content of the FEN competencies, so they can apply this to their work for their assessors to be impressed with.
I love teaching – making complex ideas understandable, bringing calm and order to crisis and breaking down difficult concepts into easier building blocks. Having joined the Board several years ago I am now President-Elect.’
