FEN Board

Lead. Influence. Shape the Future.

The Faculty of Emergency Nursing (FEN) Board sits at the heart of our organisation — a committed, profession-led group of Emergency Nurses who volunteer their time, expertise and insight to guide the strategic direction and impact of FEN.
Our Board represents voices from across the UK and Ireland, bringing together wide-ranging frontline experience, clinical leadership, educational expertise and professional insight from England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This breadth ensures that FEN’s work remains grounded in real emergency care practice, while looking firmly to the future.
FEN also works closely with key national partners, including the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care, Royal College of Emergency Medicine, and the RCN Emergency Care Forum, helping us stay connected to the wider emergency care landscape and contribute meaningfully at national level.
As FEN continues to grow — expanding our endorsed and credentialled education offer, strengthening governance, and supporting smarter, practice-focused professional development — there are increasing opportunities for Emergency Nurses to shape our work.
You don’t need to sit on the main Board to make a difference. Much of FEN’s work is driven through our specialist Boards and groups, including:

Competency Board

Help shape, review and refine Emergency Nursing competencies, and contribute to the development of professionally endorsed and credentialled Emergency Nursing courses, ensuring they reflect contemporary practice and workforce needs.

Education Board

Contribute to the design, quality assurance and ongoing development of practice-focused educational content, including the creation and refinement of proformas, assessment tools and supporting resources used across FEN programmes.

Research & Evaluation Group

Provide opportunities for Emergency Nurses who have undertaken research, service evaluation or quality improvement work to present and share their findings. The group also supports the evaluation of FEN education activity, including reviewing webinar feedback and learning impact, helping ensure our offer remains responsive, evidence-informed and continually improving.

This is your opportunity to influence the future of Emergency Nursing.
Whether your passion lies in education, professional standards, clinical leadership, research or evaluation, your contribution matters.
